The regular followers of the Romanian Ornithological Society (ROS) and LIFE project facebook pages showed a lot of imagination - Brutus, Roro, Tennō, Alex, Kim, Luana, Rowdy – were just a few of the received proposals. But only the one with the largest number of LIKES from the other users was to be declared a winner.
For a week, the users of the two facebook pages went on making proposals, analysing and voting. And the name with the largest number of votes was Arlie, proposed by Alina Ignat from Sibiu. The word comes from old English and it is used as a name both for men and women. Besides, the voted name has an extremely interesting etymology. In English, Arlie - which has also evolved to Arlene - means “eagle forest”, i.e. “the forest of the eagles”.
Hence Alina Ignat became the winner of the prize offered by the LIFE Project “Conservation of Aquila Pomarina in Romania” implemented as a partnership of the Sibiu Environmental Protection Agency, the Milvus Group Association and the ROS.
